Privacy policy
How information is collected and used on this site, in plain English.
Last updated: 23 September 2026
Who we are
This website is operated by Dr. Susan Allison, Ph.D. If you have any question about this policy, or about information held about you, write to DrSusanAllison@gmail.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- When you complete the contact form: your name, email address, and anything you choose to write in the message.
- When you make a speaking enquiry: your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, organisation, and the details of your event.
- When you subscribe to The Weekly Question: your first name and email address.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this one records basic technical information when you visit — the pages you view, the approximate region you are in, your browser and device type, and the site that referred you. This is used to understand how the site is being used, not to identify you personally.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry.
- To send The Weekly Question, if you asked for it.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful and improve them.
- To meet legal obligations where they apply.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
The Weekly Question
If you subscribe, your name and email address are stored with the email service used to send it, and are used only to send you that email. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You can also ask to be removed by writing to DrSusanAllison@gmail.com.
Who else handles your information
A small number of service providers process information on our behalf, and only in order to run the site:
- The web host, which stores the site and its form submissions.
- The email platform used to send The Weekly Question.
- The analytics provider, if one is in use, which reports on site traffic.
- The scheduling tool, if you book a conversation through it.
Each of these has its own privacy policy governing what it does with the information it handles.
Cookies
This site uses cookies to make it work properly and to understand how it is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site may not behave as expected if you do.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of the conversation. Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe. Technical and analytics records are kept for a limited period and then discarded.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how it is used, or to receive a copy of it. California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, write to DrSusanAllison@gmail.com. We will respond within the time the law allows.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, please write to us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites — the TTR Network, booksellers, social platforms, event listings. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
